Open Knitting

This activity is open to anyone, knitter or not, novice or expert.

What

Would you like to "Catch a moment of Calm and Community"? Open Knitting meets weekly for creating, conversation, community, and sharing.

The group is very casual. No registration is needed — just come.

Fun projects that go a long way for the receipient! We knit for grieving friends, babies in Sierra Leone, AIDS orphans in South Africa, donations for silent auctions, grandchildren, family, friends and ourselves. We help, teach, chat, and laugh.

Come, knit on a group project, knit a prayer shawl, knit a gift or donation, give advice when another knitter is in knots, talk books, politics, religion or peace. If you're working on your own project and would like to knit in company, join us! We're not limited to knitting, come and crochet, or just wind balls of yarn, or just sit and catch the calm.

When & Where

We invite you to join us, in spirit or in person on Tuesday mornings from 9:30 am to noon in the Church Commons.

Commitment

Come and go as you wish. We have yarn and needles and friendly instruction if you want it. You may work on personal projects or donate a hand crafted item.

Witness Statement

Over the years, this group has made hundreds of hats that were sent to Alma Baby Clinic in Sierra Leone. The hats travel to the heads of babies via Operation Classroom mission trips. The latest new knitter reported "I'm so glad I discovered fibers before I died. It's so exciting!"
