DESCRIPTION:REGISTER by Feb. 9th \nYouth Mental Health First Aid Training Course –  \nRegistration Required: Connect – Lake Harriet UMC >Register under “Sign up for a Group or Class”\nLearners complete a 2-hour\, self-paced online course\, then participate in a 4.5-hour\, Instructor-led training to receive certification. $35/person.\nMake payment here.  \nTime: 10:45 am-3:00 pm (light lunch and snack included) \nYouth Mental Health First Aid is designed to teach parents\, family members\, caregivers\, teachers\, school staff\, neighbors\, health and human services workers\, and other caring citizens how to help an adolescent (age 12-18) who is experiencing a mental health or addictions challenge or is in crisis. Youth Mental Health First Aid is primarily designed for adults who regularly interact with young people. The course introduces common mental health challenges for youth\, reviews typical adolescent development\, and teaches a 5-step action plan for how to help young people in both crisis and non-crisis situations. Topics covered include anxiety\, depression\, substance use\, disorders in which psychosis may occur\, disruptive behavior disorders (including AD/HD)\, and eating disorders. Be prepared to support those around you by getting certified in Youth Mental Health First Aid. \n

Have you ever wondered what it means to be a “Protestant?” Does it mean something more than simply “not Catholic?” In this class we will explore answers to that fundamental question of our religious identity. Instructor Jeff Speaks will help unpack the theology underlying the Protestant Reformation\, with a focus on three key figures: Martin Luther\, John Calvin\, and John Wesley. In addition to understanding the key contributions of their theologies\, participants will be given the opportunity to explore what it means to be a Protestant in our own historical moment.

Two serving times 8:00 – 9:30 a.m. and 10:30 am-Noon. There will be No Charge for this breakfast. There will be a free will donation to help offset the cost of the food. Contribute what you feel the breakfast is worth. Any money left over will go to support the amazing Capital Fundraiser we all helped support this past year. \nWe need you to make reservations so we can plan to prepare enough food.
